For over two decades, Antonio Bellini has been sourcing the finest garments directly from the skilled artisans of Naples, a city celebrated for its centuries-old tailoring tradition. This deep connection to Naples, where tailoring dates back to the 14th century with the founding of the Confraternita dell’arte dei Giubbonai e Cositori (the Brotherhood of the Jacket Makers and of the Tailors), is what distinguishes our label. The Neapolitan tailors were pioneers in creating ready-to-wear men’s garments, and their influence quickly spread across Europe, captivating kings and noblemen with their elegant, slimming designs.

The Neapolitan Craft

The legacy of Neapolitan tailoring is embodied in every Antonio Bellini piece. Neapolitan tailoring reached its zenith in the early 20th century when Vincenzo Attolini, the head cutter of Naples’ iconic tailoring shop "London House," introduced the Neapolitan Cut. This design, known for its breathable, soft construction and flattering rounded shoulder, remains the hallmark of our jackets. Attolini famously described the Neapolitan suit as "a second skin, the suit as pleasure, the suit as a lifestyle."

This is perhaps best encapsulated by the Italian word sprezzatura, defined as a studied carelessness.
